The models Gateway’s data plane is an internet-facing load balancer on AWS (giantswarm/agent-platform#690). On a workload cluster with the AWS Load Balancer Controller the data plane’s Service carried no scheme, so it became an internal NLB and external-dns published the models host with private addresses. modelServing.modelsGateway.service.annotations renders on the Gateway’s infrastructure.annotations, which the Service inherits, with and without external-dns; the default is service.beta.kubernetes.io/aws-load-balancer-scheme: internet-facing, and an explicit value replaces it (internal for a private models host). Other providers ignore the annotation. make verify-serving-slice holds the default and the override.
